Okay here is the story. I had a Viper 550ESP installed in my ride about 3-4 years ago. I have been very happy with the alarm/remote start combo. However, both of my remote controls are now shot. I found one on eBay (as pictured below) that is an identical match to the one I am using now. I am wondering what is necessary to make the remote work with my system -- do I need to have a dealer use the DEI programmer? Anybody have an idea what these remotes cost from the dealer? https://i1.ebayimg.com/02/i/02/cd/5b/2a_1_b.JPG

I think that he was asking how much it would cost to purchase from the Dealer, if you re-read it.....

You misread my statement. I would never expect to get dealer cost. Any answers to my question would be appreciated.

The programing of the remote for your system is done with the valet switch. You should be able to do it yourself providing that the unit is not looked by the Bitwriter.

I sell that remote for $65

Also the Viper474 and Viper476 remotes will program to that unit as well.

The remote you have in the pic is a 475

I know that the alarm was programmed by a bitwriter originally, how do I know if it was locked? Is locking a default setting?

In addition, I pulled out my manual and the alarm is a Hornet 553T (I was told at the time it is identical to a Viper 550ESP). What this remote also work:

He asked for the cost from the dealer, not cost for the dealer.
