i just left my local retailer with high hope's.
to what sounded like a great deal. so tell me if i just took it up the tailpipe like a porn*. traded in my memphis 16-pr1kd (i think) and $700 for a octane-r 15.0.1 now im hearing that this amp is all show no go. please let me know.if this was a good deal. i take criticism well. |
from what I found about that memphis amp, its essentially the same as the PG one you traded it for, power wise..
I know nothing about either amp except what the web says their ratings are, roughly 1000w x 1 so what was the point of trading one amp for something that is essentially the same?? Does it fit your setup better? I just dont see the reason as to why you would trade away the memphis, especially when you are trading apples for more apples....you dig? |
well your memphis 100d makes 1000 watts at 1 ohm
and the octane makes 1000 watts at 2 ohms so wether or not it's worth it depends on the load you need to feed if you got a 2 ohm load the pg is your amp if you got 1 ohm the memphis was the better choice [ January 26, 2004, 11:27 AM: Message edited by: dodgeram ] |
I agree, there does not seem to be much of a difference between those two amps. Both Memphis and PG are quality brands, and both put out equal amounts of power (at diferent resistances).
If there is any way to back out of that deal, you may want to consider it.. :( |
did anybody else catch the "and $700" part, dear lord man, abandon ship mate!
|
yeah....that bit about "and 700"....makes me believe you are about to take a ride up the good old sh*t's creek..
the reason being you're essentially paying for new amp with the 700 beans, and then basically handing over your Memphis as some sort of dowry to the dealer... You'd be better gettin it back and sellin it here, you'll get a few hundred in your pocket that way at least... |
what's the going price for that amp ........
I think you should be able to get about 300 for a good working 1000d amp so take 300 off the price of the new octane and that's what you should be paying |
also why are you asking now after the fact ........ this is the type of question that should be asked before the deal is done

HAHAHA Moonrocks and their trades. They love to make deals like that.
