difficulty of repairing a voice coil?

I have a jbl gto 1214D that blew the coil after about 4 hours of use... i think due to an improper port on the box and no amp tuning....

anyways i can clearly see a black spot on the coil, how hard is it to take apart, replace and re assemble?

not difficult if you know what your doing, there are many tutorials online including videos, the question you have to ask yourself is, is it worth repairing or replacing. I think it would be cheaper just to replace it, because you will need voice coil, shims, spider, cone, surround, gasket, glue and a lot of time, so I would just replace it

Box/port doesn't do that. Too much power does that.

well then at least i know my amp is putting out close to or more than its rated...

the sub is rated for 360W RMS, the amp is a 365RMS, i thought it was a close enough match to run fine, i was listening to "the pot" by tool, so not crazy bass but theres a few kicks in there,
