DIY speaker wire
imho, speaker wire differences are so minute that it's not anything to even think about..particularly in an environment like a car. Even if there are, and I don't think there are, subtle audible differences in different wire or wire technology, it certainly would be way too subtle to hear in a car under even relatively quiet situations...much less when driving or on a public road. Save your time and energy and get good quality, appropriate awg rated copper wire. Spend that time and energy on a good install, and components that will make a significant difference.
I did!!! Several years ago (when I was single) I made 2- 6' runs for my front mains, and a 3' run for my center channel. My hands felt RAW from twisting the wire as tightly as possible. Took about 20 hours to make all 3.
They sounds incredibly transparent as very crisp. I'd never pay for Kimber cable, but would make another set of these if I had the time.

I had a chat with the guy at Sayal about this one day, he said that he had a few guys that used cat 5 for everything, single strands on input wires and they would double up on wires for speaker cable. The main thing that came up was cca - obviously being the cheaper box of cat 5 cable and again, depending on who you ask is inferior to OFC copper... I'm down with OFC personally.. give me a drill, solder, random wire and $4 in rca ends and I'll have just fine if not overkill RCA cables
