Hi all,
I'm considering some 6.5" components for the front of my car, and I was wondering if I would notice a difference between just a 6.5" midbass + tweeter and a 6.5" midbass + 4" (or so) mid + tweeter set. I just need something clear and powerful for daily driving, this is not a serious system. If it was a 5.25" set I wouldn't even consider the mids, but I'm not sure if the 6.5" drivers can reproduce the higher midrange clearly and faithfully. Opinions? (or better yet, facts?) Regards, molo |
I think that totally depends on the components that you plan on using. If your going with Focal seperates for your 6's and tweets then I think you can get away with not using mids. But if your using some low end no name seperates then you may want mids. Personally I like mids with my seperates. But I dont have them because I'm using Oz seperates for the fronts and they handle anything.
In the end I would say pay a little extra and get a little better components and see if its enough for you. Remember imaging, amp's and crossovers make a big difference also. |
There is no problem going with only a 2 way set up front. I had gotten some kicker resolution RS6 components and also the 8inch midbase.... I thought I needed it.
Once I ended up sealing off the back of my kick pannels... turned out I had no use for the midbase... the puny 6 inch mids did all the job superbly. I do beleive however, that a true audiophile setup needs more then 2 way.But for everyday bumping or the odd comp, you should have no problems if they are set up right. LOTS of people stay with 2 way. |
