my delema is i gotta fit this in a single cab truck (1988 chevy C1500 *standard*), im not worried about haveing the seat(bench) all the way forward im not that big of a guy, and i was wondering what and or if u guys have any ideas for a box/set up behind the seat and if i should get another set of speakers either 6X9's or 61/2's (the 4X6's are the factory replacement just under my windshield)

If you were not aware of this take a closer look into it as when the product shows up at your door, it is going to have a nice fat bill attached to it.

If you buy the deal, you buy the issues along with it. As a retailer if you had told me that you have a reg cab truck, there is no way that I would have recommended these items to you. You need to be able to drive comfortable and safe. This means set the seat properly and then measure the airspace available in behind the seat. That alone is going to dictate what sub or subs you can short list right away. You can have the best subs in the world but if they are in the wrong box they are going to sound like a wet fart. Then that good deal you just got went right out the window.

Don't try and squeeze more speakers behind the seat. Go to a darn good set of front component speaker and throw an amp on them. You will go far further in your quest for good sound if you do this. There is nothing worse than investing in all the wrong equipment and then being stuck with it. If you still have time, back out of the deal and do some more research.

the sub amp package has already been purchased and is on its way.
regarding safty in the vehicle, the seat as is now i drive with the seat all the way forward so in a sense it wont be a problem.

i have done a little bit of research and have already installed a walmart/canadian tire set up in my dads 06 sierra already and have learned the basics (not all im assuming) of audio systems. i built my own box to fit my dads truck. it is under the rear bench seat ill get some pics up soon. the reason i bought the package i did was because of what i got out of my dads set up. it sounds great. except, the 1 thing is when i turn the music up loud the subs dont sound quite right. it seems like there knocking i get a vibrating sound, not that nice deep hard punch i get at lower levels, but i am taking my truck to the closest audio store to get them to tune it for me. 1ce again i wanted a more powerful harder hitting set up so i went with those kenwoods because my friend has something similar that is awsome. i figured if my dads sound system runs a 600w amp powering 2 800w pioneers i might as well double it hence the 1800w amp. i really wasnt thinking though bout the size of the truck cab, either way the nice thing will be i can always put them in my car when and if i get it on the road.

i understand this is not the perfect set up but i want to make what i have work with what i have, and that being what i have listed in previous post. as far as what i have listed off of what i have in terms of subs i believe i have enough room behind the seat. but for starters how much space/air do those subs need to breath?

oh btw what's your guy's take on kenwood...... aka the combo i bought terrible, bad, alright, good??????

Ignore the max ratings. You need to focus on the RMS

That is a 900wrms Amp and you'll be pushing 2x 400wrms subs.

From what I see one of those subs require:

» sealed box volume: 0.75-1.75 cubic feet
» ported box volume: 1.0-2.0 cubic feet

I don't think you can fit that behind your seat. I may be wrong though...

tomorrow ill get the measurements. i know its possible to fit them behind the seat (although may not be specific for these subs) because ive found some online pre built ones for 12's but id rather build my own because i like doing that kinda stuff and its cheaper.

thanks for pointing out the rms i know thats more inportant than the max i just put the max up cuz i remebered it first lol.

what would be better a seald or ported box? also whats tipically easier to make? i know porting cam be a pain form what ive heard

oh also i know that alternaters and batteries are important u guys reccomed getting new ones for the amount im pushing?

i got my measurements and i made a rough dimension draw up of close to the max size of box give an inch or 2 either way as well i included some pics of the actual truck inside

make sure the sub will be able to move and not have the seat back rest pushed directly into it.

does ne 1 like math... cuz i cant for the life figure out and plain and simple dont know if the box i drew up with paint will be able to provide the box with enough air sealed or ported?????

oh can some 1 tell me if these are kenwoods top of the line subs, middle or bottom???

Actually the box is way too large for those subs.....assuming it's 3/4" MDF, that box works out to 6.6cuft......

Kenwood likes 1.25cuft per sub sealed.....if you keep the top and bottom the same size and make the width 35" and the height 20" you get 2.86cuft......allow for some bracing and the sub displacement and you should be pretty close......

If the pic you posted is the max size that will fit behind the seat while you're driving, making the box smaller will give you enough space to mount your amp and capacitor.....those subs with that much power will make a lot of bass in a small cab, you could port them if you want but it might be overkill. If you decide to add other speakers I would drop the tweeters and put a 6.5" coax or a 6X9 in the doors and power all 4 with an amp......4X6s in the dash and some door speakers would make a pretty strong front stage......

omg thank you and yes that is the absolute max dimeansons.
ill prolly make it a little longer and higher and make the width smaller round and inch should do
