hopefully ive put the pics right

danyman 06-03-2008 03:16 PM

ya i know i got polyfill spitting out lmao ill have to fix that and the wireing job for the amp under the seat will be cleaned up when i i dynamat my floor and doors (not dynamat tho)

danyman 06-03-2008 04:28 PM

comments, critisism, ideas shoot out would like to hear what you guys think on my first setup lol

Father Yuli 06-03-2008 04:30 PM

i really like your box design and application.

just dont know why people put polyfill in their boxes? i doesnt do anything.

danyman 06-03-2008 05:35 PM

did something to my ears tho makes the bass sound more smooth but i think ill take it out cause i keep on fighting with it to stay in the box lol

liv2ride 06-03-2008 05:50 PM

How did you cut those holes on your box ?.. My sawzall can cut better holes then whatever you used lol.. not that I would ever use one.. Nice design tho !! :-P

tonez735 06-03-2008 06:14 PM

how is that "stealth" though? I like your sub box but would a floor with countersunk grills be "stealth" :)

danyman 06-03-2008 07:36 PM

not for the size of box i needed i just wanted the rest to be stealth since i have a kid and another on the way with a familly van i have to take out my subs sometimes... so taking my wireing apart from the amp is getting really anoying so i hide everything and make it look stock ( exept for the big box in the back)

and the holes for the sub was made by a jig saw but cut with the design of the sub mount .. screwed up the right one on the top but will fix when i finish the box not quite sure what to finish with /??? i was thinking fiberglass and a nice paint or carpet it with the same color as the rear seat carpet

danyman 06-03-2008 08:42 PM

actually my next progect will be full spl and the van with become fully stealth i will have 4 8" or 10" depending on if it fits in the holes 2 under the rear seat and 1 under each middle seat but that wont be for a while prob next summer if everything goes well

i was thinking of checking out the clarion signature series 6.5" comp has anyone tryed those and how did you like them???? or i was thinking CDT maybe

AAAAAAA 06-04-2008 04:30 PM

I like where the DD amp is, def stealth. Although the rest, not so much hehe

danyman 06-04-2008 07:14 PM

well you really have to bend over to see the amp under the seat sooo to me that is stealth lol cant see speakers either until i start my fiberglass enclosure in the door pods

pollyfill eats up inner volume and raises the tuning..it also deadens the
interior of the enclosure and it also traps heat

the only time I use pollyfill is to stuff a weird shaped "sealed" fiberglass pod
to adjust the tuning/inner volume

danyman 06-08-2008 10:49 AM

took out the polyfill this week and well its louder lol

df.dima 06-08-2008 10:57 AM

while i've seen papers showing how poly affects the system in a sealed box, i don't remember anything about poly in ported box.
any numbers of ported box and poly, guys? :)

danyman 06-08-2008 11:38 AM

i dont know but from massive audio they said 1.5cf without polyfill sealed and 2.0cf with 80% polyfill ported so i tryed it and well the bass is tighter but less output than without poly

veeman 06-08-2008 03:22 PM

read this article, it sheds some light on polyfill.

thanks veeman finally a site that explains a bit more lol

hey trevor that what I thought too, but anyone I ever talked too about it, say it a good way to increase box size without actually increasing it... Read article about it in this thread.... I dunno I prob never tried it unless I had termlab and see numbers differences... impedence rises and what ever else needed:cheeky4:

It does the opposite: lowers the effective Qtc and the resonance frequency.

Could you expand on that a bit? Typically people use the term "deaden" to imply that the resonant frequency of a particular object has been lowered by whatever material has been added to the object. It can, however, absorb sound at higher frequencies, typically well outside those of a subwoofer (even outside of the harmonics encountered within typical subwoofer bandwidth).

Nice install either way. I like the ports firing under the seat, looks good. Keep up the good work. Nice and clean.

danyman 06-08-2008 09:51 PM

thanks man quite suprise that i dont have port noise what so ever my other box was mad with noise lol

ya i like the port under the seat didnt think i would like it but i do still get the same output as my old box but with a smaller footprint in the trunk and on the plus side you get a hell of an ass beating on the rear seat hehehee

Lorrd Fapa 06-08-2008 09:58 PM

It's always fun trying something different and having a good end result. Makes the project that much sweeter when it turns out better than you thought it would.

danyman 06-08-2008 10:01 PM

yaa the great feeling of accomplishment

now i just need to finish the box since im trying to make it look like it was allready there i was thinking of carpeting the box ( yes i know looks prefab ) but the same color as the rear seats carpet OR vinyl the same color as the interior

Lorrd Fapa 06-08-2008 10:05 PM

I've seen an install in an SUV, combo of reg vinyl and perforated vinyl to match interior. Looked pretty awesome. Reg was main covering and perf was for accenting. If you were to do vinyl, I'd consider something like that. Just something to think about.

danyman 06-08-2008 10:08 PM

ya ill have a nogin scratcher for a while lol i want to do the door pods for a component set first then do all the carpeting or vinyl at the same time actually the doors would be vinyl

danyman 06-08-2008 10:10 PM

well ill post more pic when its done might take a month or so lmao due to financial stuff thx for the comments and ideas critism to thats what make better and better installs

Lorrd Fapa 06-08-2008 10:13 PM

It takes different views and opinions if a person wants to grow as an installer cause one person doesn't always see it the same as the builder. Sometimes it comes out better, sometimes worse, but you never know unless you ask. Hope all goes smooth for ya.
