DVD Head Unit Security

Hey guys,

I'm looking into getting a 2DIN DVD Head Unit. The problem is, I can't seem to find one with a detachable face. I will be driving this car to school pretty much everyday and leaving it parked outside for like 6 hours, giving potential carjackers plenty of chances to break into my car and possibly steal my expensive head unit.

I want to avoid ones with a retractable screen because i have a feeling that the screen's motor will die on me one day, and my warranty will be expired.

So, how can I do this?

Recess the deck into the dash far enough to put a cover plate over it.....if you can get the factory deck face and attach it to something that fits in the hole you're covered, so to speak.....

Thanks man,

Thats actually an excellent idea. But i'd prefer to use that as a last resort. Anyone else?

Eclipse, 100% useless if stolen and replaced free of charge in the first year.

Yeah but I dont want one with a retractable screen because they dont seem very sturdy and there will be a day when the screen wont pop out any more because the motor will have given out.

This is what you need. No amount of theft deterrent is going to keep someone from taking it if they want it. Let alone the damage they cause trying to take it. At least with this model it is the best option as far as theft deterrent applies to the SOB that takes it and protects you in the first year with a new one if it is stolen.
