An E1200 with a 10w3v3-4... did the salesman screw me?

Hello all,

I like having a nice car stereo, but know nothing about installation and specs, and although I always try to listen to gear in the stores, it comes down to trusting salesman when I buy.

I bought a JL Audio amp and sub setup from Soundsaround in Calgary... the saleman seemed genuine and raved about the combination of the E1200 amp and 10w3v3 sub. So I bought it. Now that it's in my car, I can barely hear the sub, so I looked more closely at the specs... because the sub is the 4 ohm (I swear he told me it was the 2 ohm), the amp is only putting out 120W @ 4 ohms and the sub's optimum RMS is 300W. Did the salesman screw me over and sell me an amp that's totally underpowering my sub, or am I missing something here?

Thanks!

I'd definatly go back and get the 2 ohm version, only makes sense with that amp...

Definitely change subs to the 2 ohm version, and I'd consider upgrading to the A1400 or something with a bit more power...

I agree, atleast get the 2ohm version of the sub, if not a more powerful amp. That amp would really be a better match for a single w1v2 or something with lower power requirements.
