I am sure I am not the only one on here that takes advantage of ebay. I rescently bought another deck on ebay and looking around on consistantly notice the same brands with huge savings on them (300%-400%)
The brands I have noticed are Clarion (Atleast the head units), mb quart speskers, and Phoenix gold.
What major brands do you guys see on ebay for crazy discounts and does anyone know how someone can sell products for a third to an eigth of retail?

When I was looking to buy a Clarion surround sound processor, I noticed they were going for rediculously low prices. I've always heeded to the "too good to be true" deals. It was tempting though, for an impulse buyer like me. I was even thinking of e-mailing buyers who bought the item from the "buy it now for - 15 left' type of ad. So far, I haven't been ripped off on eBay. I do hear a lot of negative stories. It could well be stolen items. I mean if the items were legit, why would a company like Clarion dump products that are still current and big sellers?

i have baught every stereo part i have ever owned off of ebay...i have never been burned before....my thoughts about ebay are as follows... why buy from car audio shops at double the cost....like i know you may not get a warrantee from ebay ( which a lot of places you do) but for the price you pay at shops to get a warrantee...you could simply buy a brand new unit if the first one breaks...and still be under the the shops price for 1....that being said...i always have my stuff professionally installed and tuned at shops, so i can make sure its done right and to support the local shops.......thats jsut my 2 cents worth

DO NOT compare Canadian retail pricing to US wholesale costs. It will just make you cry. Trends in BC is the sole authorized importer of PG equipment and sets the price for the country. They are responsible for the rediculously expensive cost of buying PG gear in Canada.

The reason you see PG (and other gear) for sale on Ebay at such a low price is an unscrupulous major distributor in the US is selling direct from PG to Ebay. This saves several levels of middle men and the final retail endpoint. They are probably only making $50 @ amp at best and the idea is to make money on volume sales.

I've spoken with a few authorized PG, PPI... shops in the US and the Ebay pricing is actually cheaper than dealer cost by a good margin.

In the end I do not see a problem with this so long as the vendor is not intenionally selling damaged goods. I know how to properly install my own equipment and I am well informed about what I want to purchase, thus I have no use whatsoever for a retail establishment to add 40% to my cost. If the amp breaks it needs to be sent to a repair facility to be fixed anyways so what purpose does the dealer serve to someone like me ? Nothing.
