Eclipse CD5030 USB issues
 

Hi folks,

Before I crank into my problem, let me say, what a great forum:)

Now, to my problem.

I own an eclipse CD 5030. It has worked perfectly woth no issues for 3 years.

About 2 weeks ago the usb connector broke. So I replaced it with another. It was a round one and I soldered the ends together and heat shrinked it all made it nice and neat.

Now it cuts out. Just the usb part. Its like the power stops running to the cable. And the HU selects another source. Very weird. And I did connect everything properly.

If I turn the car off, so there is no power at all and then on it fires up again and runs perfectly.

I can be driving along in the car and suddenly the usb stops working and goes another source.

I've tried another usb to iphone cable. I thought that may have been part of the problem, but still the same - although less frequently.

Then this afternoon, along with the USB stopping working there was a kind of audible crackle. Then nothing from any sources. The unit didn't shut off or anything, just no sound.

Turned the car off and on again. Away it all went. Very strange.

Can anyone help or expalin what's happening.
