this question would be easily solved, but i have a situation...

i currently have an eclipse 5506... it has triple 8 volt preouts, copper plated chassis, sub level and phase control, with bass/mid/treble control (but fixed at 100hz, 600hz, and 10khz)...

i have a buyer that should be buying it this week... although not sure if i should sell this unit in favour of a high end alpine... one with bass engine, time correction, better eq, triple 4v preouts...

something like this: alpine deck

in the end ill have to put out a little bit of money for the alpine but in about a year or so im going to get a 8454 eclipse...

question is should i bother selling it now and get the alpine or wait till i can afford the eclipse? which will have better sound quality... just in case, i have an amp that takes an 8v preout...

thanks

Hi,

Go for the Alpine, the 7995 is awesome sound and a true 4 v. With an outboard dc to dc. Why do you think almost almost every serious competitor uses Alpine first and foremost?

If you go with the Alpine, I would recommend that you pick up a line driver also. Mine doesn't seem to have very strong preouts, even though it is 4 volt rated. (CDA-7894)

Really, almost every competitor?

Stick with eclipse man, better pre-outs, better sounding and if it works now there is no reason to replace it until your ready to get the 8454.

I agree stay with eclipse they are fantastic headunits and are amzing for sq. The control they have is nutty on their higher head units. :D Im not saying alpine doesnt have any conrol but after hearing my eclipse 8062 versus the alpine cda 7998 i would never switch. The sound is just more crisp. I had a chance to use both headunits in a jeep on the same speakers and the alpine couldn't hack it, at least not compared to the eclipse. It's just so much more rich sounding. Plus 8vrms preouts are a bonus try checking the output on an alpine deck for rca's. Theyre overrated.

yeah the only thing is that im worried about not being able to sell my deck later on... plus the eqs on newer decks have more options and tuning ability to them then my eclipse...

i have a choice of also a premier 840mp... thats what is in my car now... i like it... got a good amount of eq'ing ability and it does mp3s... do u think the pioneer would be able to hold its own against the alpine and or eclipse?

The pioneer 840 is a great deck but it just wont sound as good as the alpine or eclipse and the preouts are mega weak on them not even close to what they are rated never the less it gets the job done :D . If you are really into sq then alpine and eclipse are the way to go just think man eclipse got a fully adjustable eq and 24 db per octave crossovers and strong 8 volt rca's. Also shared by alpine except teh rca's. So really do YOU need and eclipse or high end alpine.
Once you get the eclipse or alpine i doubt you'd ever sell it

well i already have an eclipse unit... but im just wondering what i should use for approximately the next year or so...

im leaning towards keeping my eclipse since i have an amp that can take the 8v preouts or just keeping the pioneer for now since it is already in...

keep the pioneer til you can afford the eclipse deck the eclipse is the way to go man justg think about it for awhile :D
