Elevation, Sundown or Atomic Audio?

Hey guys,

Been on the market for new subs and amp, but dont know which amp to buy. I've seen some stuff from Elevation, Sundown and Atomic. All look nice, but have no idea on how well they would perform as I have never heard them. I am looking at the DX2000.1 from Elevation Audio, the SAZ1500D from Sundown Audio and the Class-D 1600.1 from Atomic Loudspeaker. I am looking for something to push anywhere from 1000-2000 rms of clean power. I am uncertain as to what subs I am going to purchase, one step at a time.

what subs r u thinkin of using?

BRamsundar 11-13-2008 10:16 PM

lol. I was looking at the 2 x pro12's from Elevation Audio, 2 x Kicker CVX12-2's, 1 x Cadence DCW12-RVC or 2 x Pioneer Premier Championship Series TSW3001-D2's. Maybe some other choices might come along, but these are the ones that im sorta sure of

was looking at some dd's and maybe even 2 x DD2500a's. 12" ofcourse

how about something from a local retailer so you can get some support and warranty for your product.

BRamsundar 11-13-2008 10:46 PM

the first 3 (i.e sundown, elevation and atomic) would be from local retailers. I still have to check around my area to see some car audio places, but the only vendors who have some reasonable prices are online. Most car audio places that I know of around me support alpine, kenwood, jl and all the flashy crap that I really don't have the time for them to swindle me into buying it.

What local shop carries atomic in toronto?

BRamsundar 11-14-2008 01:31 AM

local i meant as in canada, or nation wide. A local shop that I know of in toronto that sells any of the amps i listed don't exist, atleast so i think

2000 watts of power, I would be looking at DD3512 subs for sure. Then we can find a nice big amp to power them.

Out of those 3... Sundown for sure... Jacob supports his customers really well (despite what NTOXKTD says... he's uninformed) ;)

Atomic is a nightmare to deal with.. and I'm unsure about Elevation.. but I KNOW Jacob at Sundown will take care of you.

Father Yuli 11-14-2008 10:51 AM

out of all 3 brands you mentioned - Sundown.

BRamsundar 11-14-2008 11:45 AM

Jacob is whom exactly and where is he located?

nice subs, don't get me wrong, but I don't see the use in all that power from an alternator that I know couldn't handle it. I am still waiting to install my new alternator and getting it tested, but am estimating that I'm going to get 80-90 amps at idle. From my calculations 2 subs with that rms worth would run me somewhere around 166 amps b/c i know most of the amps im looking at pushing that kind of rms are 86-88% efficient. I know im being a tight as* about the whole thing, but i need something that can allow my car to handle at idle.

I am not saying that 1500rms wouldn't damage my set-up without an extra battery, but is close to something that I should really be looking at if I don't want to put in a HO alt. I am going to run either a optimum red top or a kinetiks battery, don't know which one yet.

Get Sundown. Jacob is the company owner in the USA. Dealer Smartass on this board carries Sundown. I have a flawless 1500D for sale, PM me if interested.

I am the distro for sundown in Canada and an authorized dealer for elevation in canada.

Jacob is a really great guy, and I am willing to help you out in any way you would need (As if you are to purchase in canada, warranty goes through me). That being said, I have only ever had 1 sundown amp come back to me. and it was a 1000, not a 1500.

BRamsundar 11-14-2008 02:59 PM

sounds like a plan. I don't mind the sundown amps at all. seem pretty clean inside and accept 1/0 gauge, which I am planning on using in my setup. I do have a question that I need answered and that would be what kind of power recommendations would you guys have in terms of a new battery. I know kinetics makes some good stuff, but instead of getting 2 new batteries, wouldn't it be easier just getting one larger battery that would reduce resistance, ect... I am still going to be pushing 80-90amps at idle and was wondering what battery would assist me in pushing the amp close to full tilt for 10-15mins.

for reference the sundowns do 1510rms at 1-ohm stable at 12V
