Enclosure Size
 

well i have 2 fairly old Jensen Titanium KS210 subs. DVC 4 ohm. They are 175 watts rms each and i have absoutly no clue what size of sub box they would require for a seal or even ported box. i have them in a ported box that was actually meant for 2 12's but i can't find any information about them anywhere and i would like to stick them in the right size sealed box to see how they sound. if anyone has any info for me that would be great thanks!

Try 1cuft each for a starter.....if you like to fiddle with stuff, build a test box....around 2cuft/sub should do it and put some foam in it to get back to 1 each. Try it out, pop one of the subs, take some foam out and try again, see what you think.

As long as you don't throw a LOT of power at them they should be fine with the testing.....the larger the air space the deeper they'll go, but at the cost of some power handling. Once you have the sound where you like it, build your final box to that size

i don't want to spend too much money on having to buy mdf because my funds are fairly low right now but i guess i'll see lol. im not actually sure how much power im putting to the subs anymore but i think they are under powered. i over powered them once when i had a JL amp and blew the cones right out of the spiders on them and had to silicone them back together. they still work lol. i think they are getting 250 watts rms total

A 48" X 48" 'Handy Panel' of 3/4" MDF is around $15-20 at Home Depot.....a small bottle of carpenters glue and some 1.5" deck screws and you're good to go....:smilie_da

Find a friend with some wood working skills (and hopefully a couple of tools....:laugh: ) and take a run at it....you'll have fun, learn something new and have something to show for your efforts.

i have no problem making the box myself. i have made a few in the past and i have all the tools to do it. it's mostly just the size of the box i'm looking for. i was hoping someone would hopefully have some info for me on it but i was thinking it is a pretty far stretch with these old subs lol

If you can find the specs, I'd bet they would put you right in the 1-1.5cuft/driver range for a sealed enclosure anyways......:dunno:

Bottom line is if you put them in a sealed box they will make some noise no matter what the size.......trying to port them on the other hand......:ohwell: :smokin:

they are in a ported box right now but im not sure what size the box is for sure. i used to have them in a sealed box before but i think thats when i blew the cones out of the spiders, and i think i ended up putting them in a ported box because they made a bit of popping noises in a sealed box.. i think. but that was like 5 years ago so i don't really remember that far back lol. i might make a box around 1.3 cuft/driver or so and see how that sounds
