EQ meets 3 Preout deck...

:dunno:

I have the new Clarion EQ, and my deck is the Alpine 9856... Which has 3 preouts.

I would be fine if my deck had one preout, but which preout do i use if I have 3 (for input to the EQ)...

Also, If I use my rear or front preout, will i lose the front or rear and subwoofer adjusting on the EQ? thanks

Any takers? :dunno:

I would wager a guess that your stereo has this:
2 front preouts
2 rear preouts
2 sub preouts

If thats how it is, just use the 2 front preouts, and if you still want to use rear speakers, just use the front line for the fronts AND backs. You won't lose anything musically, just the ability to use "fade."

The sub is EQ'd at the amp usually anyway.

I'm assuming your eq has 3 pre-outs?? If so then you should use the eq to control the signals going to the front, rear, and sub. All you need to do is connect either the front or rear pre out from the Alpine to the Clarion's input, and make sure your Alpine's fader is set either to the center position or all the way to the front( if you use the front preouts) or rear (if you use the rear preouts). That will give you a full range (20hz-20khz) signal that will be routed by the Clarion's circuitry to the front, rear and sub pre outs on the eq. You will have to use the eq to control fader, and sub output.

You mean I will have to use the DECK to control the sub output?

veeman 10-12-2006 03:41 PM

well it all depends on your eq, and your preference. If you have a sub out on your eq, then you can use it to control your sub. If you want, you can use the eq to just equalize the front and rear, and use the Alpine's sub out to control your sub amp. What model eq do you have?

Oops, I didn't do my research. I didn't know it was indash.

FusionMadsen 10-12-2006 07:23 PM

EQS746 is the model, yes its indash.

I would run the Alpine front preamp outputs to the Clarion's input, and run the front, rear and sub outputs from the clarion to the amps. Control the fader and subwoofer from the clarion eq, and just use the Alpine for volume and balance if needed.
