Excelon Decks
#1
I tried searching on ehre but haven't got too much info. Just wondering if any of you have tried/use any of the newer Kenwood excelon decks?
They seem pretty decent for the price.
I just want to know if they're worth the money, or if I should just stick with good ol' Pioneer
I've heard bad things about Kenwood, although I think the opinions are mainly from people who've never used their products, I have a couple of Kenwood amps and they preform flawlessly, so I was thinking their decks might not be too bad either.
Lemme know your opinions on them please, thanks

I currently use a KDC-X659, and after 5 months I can say this one has worked great so far. The feature set is pretty complete as far as sound manipulation goes and while there may be decks out there with more toys and fancier displays, I think one that sounds better would cost more than I am willing to pay. My last deck was another Kenwood, and it survived 4 years of almost constant use (70 to 80 hours per week) in my work truck, so they must be fairly well made...

My Kenwood is an 8011 so not an Excelon but has remote, dual 4.5v out, motorized flip face, etc.
Anyway - that damn thing is going hard and just won't die. The motorized face has never skipped a beat either.
I had never owner or thought much of Kenwood before getting that deck (got it used) but since have bought a Kenwood changer for the wife's vn too. I am 100% satisfied with that unit.

I've owned a few Kenwood decks and amps over the years and have never had a problem with any of them. Infact I have an 8 year old system (cassette deck, amp and CD changer)sitting in my basement that I have been thinking about installing in my car. If it would change the display to red I'm sure I would.
HTH......hope this helps..happy to help.
