F-Mod needed or not?
I am currently running 2 12" JL 12W3v3 off of an Alpine MRP-M500. Each getting 250w in a ported box tuned to 32hz (Thanks Jalat!) I will getting a MBQuart DSC4125 to run both subs at 500w...their rated RMS. Now, being the MD Quart is class A/B it likely won't have a subsonic filter. As it stands my MRP-M500 subsonic filter is fixed at 15hz...too low to be effective.
Question is should I invest in an F-Mod? My thinking is yes given the frequency response of 22hz is too much lower than the port frequency for natural rolloff. Also, I just received my Alpine IMPRINT box and tuning stuff. Will an inline F-Mod affect it's automated tuning at all? Any thoughts? |

Yes, the imprint will do it's own subsonic filtering. It will also play with phase if you use it afterward, but it won't hurt any of the electronics physically if you did:)

Bad move on the amp I hate to say. In your locale with the high heat in summer + class AB = recipe for disaster, that amp is going to go thermal in the blink of an eye. Let me find a more suitable amp for you, what kind of budget do you have to work with?

The plan is all coming together..... I would still expect it to be hitting it's thermal barriere, even in the winter on the subs but it will be interesting to see how it takes it in the summer. I know that my class AB amps used to always go thermal on me in the summer when I lived up in that neck of the woods. Might be back through there again for Christmas for that matter.

The amp will never see the light of summer so no concern there. If she heats up in the winter i'll just turn er down. |
Mount under seat for optimal warming to lower body....

See look at that. Always thinking of the positives. Such an optimistic guy you are.

That DSC4125 is the best bang for the buck out there right now (for a 4 channel). At one point they could be had for 109$ US. Crazy....
