Anyone know which factory decks have pre-outs. Just curious...

do you mean like OEM decks? wow, that would really surprise me to find out that any standard feature on a deck would have a pre-out. but i guess it is possible...well, for the subs at least. now car companies are actually trying to put decent sound systems into thier newer models, even though they still don't come close to what most audiophiles would go for.

but at any rate, i wouldn't trust a factory pre-out to supply enough voltage. maybe it might improve the ease of install, and sound quality, but i would always replace the deck with a triple pre-out deck.

I could be wrong but I'm gonna say it's not like an RCA design if that's what you mean by preout.

Lots of Stock system already have amplifiers in their OEM systems...even in the early 90's. They are small and have like no power but it's still, an "Amp", that boosts the power. It's usually just a low level input (like normal stock speaker wire which has a harness that plugs into the stock amp's), and then gets boosted, and again leave via another harness, to the speakers.

It's the same thing as getting any aftermarket power amp that has low level inputs for factory speaker wire. (they are usually 4ch ones...for easy application to stock set-ups). even the new subs incorporated into these new..."OEM" high option sound systems, Harmon Kardon, MArk Levison..etc, etc....they probably don't use RCA's.

...since that's the case, I don't think there's any OEM decks out there that have RCA preout's...perhaps an Audio line in (1/8th mini), but not a RCA in or out. Even CD Cartridges use FM Transmitters, or have their own specific harness.

Hyundai had Clarion decks from the factory with a single pair of preouts. Only ones I've ever seen though.
