Factory Head unit with aftermarket Sub
 

I have sub and amp that I want to install in my new car. I don't want to get rid of the factory deck if I can avoid it. Can anyone recommmend an easy solution to split the sub signal without installing an aftermarket head unit.

I have tried a 25$ filter before and ended up having to purchase the aftermarket head unit to get the Low Range signal to the amp.

Add a proper interface adaptor like the Audio Control LC6i or MTX REQ5. In both cases it will also allow you to add new front and rear amplification and speakers.

Thanks for the input MR2NR. I checked the .pdf for the Audio Control LC6i and have a further question. It gives examples of how to integrate this with the head unit. In the examples you have to split the Tweeter, Mid-Range and Sub.

What if there is no Sub output on the factory head unit? Do you use the Mid-Range instead??

The LC6i has the ability to sum together all signals and create a new full range signal. You do not have to split signals at all for this device to work.

I too have done something similar and to be honest depending on how nice your factory cd player is it's not all that bad.

If you install a $15 Stinger LOC or even the more expensive SALOC PROPERLY, there should be no issues.
