Hi, I just bought a ppi pc4100 amplifer for 425 dollars Canadian. I am having trouble finding a review on this amp. It is a 1999 model with 4 channels. Was this a fair price to pay for this amplifer?

Thanks

Reviewed by: Dan , from Georgia

Model/Year:
pc 4100 (now 4400)

Price Paid: $800

Summary:
I have to admit I haven't pushed it very hard. I've run no more than 1 10" ppi pro power sub with the rear channels and my front stage with the front channels. I've blown one 10" that had to be replaced which is bit of a feat, but not for this amp. I'm pretty sure, that if I had to do it over, I'd have purchased something else. It's great, but I there are amps nearly as good at a fraction of the cost. If you can get one for near $500, then go for it, otherwise, shop elsewhere, unless you're dead set on getting the best.

Strengths:
Powerful, versatile, and clean

Weaknesses:
expensive and large

Similar Products Used:
As good as any I've seen

Ratings:
Overall - 5 of 5
Value - 3 of 5

PC 4100

Summary:
PAID 650 NEW FOR PPI PC4100 AND WAS NOT LET DOWN BY THE POWER, BUT JUST DISSAPPOINTED IN THE CROSSOVER SECTION. OVERALL, VERY PLEASED. I LOVE THE Q BASS PLUSS ALLOWING ME TO ADJUST THE BOOST, FREQUENCY, AND Q OF THE THE BASS. JUST NOT VERY FLEXIBLE. ONLY SOLD TO GO TO A 6 CHANNEL AMP SO I HAVE A SEPARATE CHANNEL FOR MIDBASS UP FRONT.

Strengths:
POWER TO SPARE, STYLISH, EFFICIENT, Q BASS PLUS IS GREAT

Weaknesses:
CROSSOVER COULD BE MORE FLEXIBLE

Ratings:
Overall - 4 of 5
Value - 4 of 5

I heard that PPI went down hill after they were bought out by Orion. None of their amps today can compete with the older Art series.

Nope, the Art series is from the mid-90s ...

Yours is a PC series amp ..
