Fi or RE?
 

From what i have read online so far they seem to be fairly evenly matched.
I currently have a pair of 12" Fi SSD's, powered by a Hifonics TXI1508D (1500Wrms).
I am considering moving to a single 15" RE SX, not because i think its going to be "better", but simply because i kinda get bored and like to change things up in the car alot. hehe
I'm just wondering if im going to take a big loss in SPL if i make the switch.

Thought i would get some opinions before i make a decision.

as far as i know, the creators of FI were the creators of RE, just sold the brand to us amps.....i would assume the fi are better being they are a more recent design

i would go with the same, not to mention FI has no dealer base..so i would assume the dollar value would be greater...

you said you get bored of your equipment, the reason why you like to change it??? ask anyone on this forum or any other audio forum and they will suggest you experiment with different enclosures.....the reason i say that is cause your enclosure makes the biggest difference to your woofers performance, added power will increase the intensity of the output, and changing subs only performs mild differences ie: looks, freq responce etc.....the woofer you have is capable of amazing output, you should try coaxing more performance out of it before you move on to the next.

thats just my thought on the matter, the box makes all the difference, the sub, not so much it its for music or mild spl

I actually change boxes fairly often. I think i will build a new box this week and try something new. One major problem i have is trunk space. I would like to lean more towards SPL, but starting to think its a bit hopeless with the car i drive, lol. I drive a Plymouth Breeze....nuff said.
Last year i had a pair of 15's and didnt even make it to 140db. I dont care about first place or 3 place. All i wanna do is beat my last score. My goal for this summer is to at LEAST make 140dB. hehe
I'm sure with the setup i have it IS possible, but i know its gonna be a challenge with the car i have.

Build a custom box much better suited to the equipment you have. With 2 15's and 1500Wrms you should have easily broke a 140. from a trunk

You should easily be able to eclipse the 140 mark with that equipment. We did a breeze at the shop, and I was amazed how easily we could seal the trunk off with that vehicle. Even try a good sized slot ported box firing forward without sealing it, that in itself should get you into the 140's. Trust me, changing the gear will not fix the number as much as getting a good design that works.

using a pair of 15's may break a 140 in a trunk but you dont have the space to give them or the room to vent them properly, a single 15,12, or pair of 10" work the best with space you have in the trunk.....i'll bet you could see a 148 in your car with 1500watts in the trunk,
