Fiberglassing
#1
I'm taking the rear seat out of my 02 cavalier, and I'm building a box for 2 15's and a rack in place of the seat. The front and bottoms are going to be made of MDF as well as the bracing and the back sides and top and going to be molded fiberglass. I was wondering what's the best way to go about this, I could fiberglass everything directly into the car, but then painting it would be a b*tch, or I could build it outside, but fitment would be the problem then.
Any ideas from the pros would be much apreciated.

Hey
If you are planning on keeping the car for a long time, build the box in the car. When you paint it just use lots of masking tape and poly to keep the rest of the car paint free. If you are looking for the system to be integrated into the car this would be the route I'd take. If you don't want it to look like the manufacturer installed it build it outside the car and do the finishing outside then do the install. This won't be blending into the panels perfectly but you can make it look like it's supposed to be there by spending time and taking care with your design.
