Check out my first set of kick panels.
Did I ever learn alot with this project. Mostly how to be patient. :D Took me about a month. http://www3.sympatico.ca/chris.haig/Kick01.JPG http://www3.sympatico.ca/chris.haig/Kick02.JPG |

Nice bro but how does it sound now? You gotta tell the whole story :D
|
The midbass sounds a bit too much. (sounds funny)
I cut a 2 inch hole in the back thinking it would be enuf. I think I need to deaden them a lot more inside. The speakers are peerless 6.5" mids, paired with a Vifa D25AG. They image great. They image the best with 2 passenger because both tweeters get blocked with legs. |
they look good!

Haha. thanks guys,
The speaker grill cloth rocks. My girlfriends dad keeps shoving junk in my face everytime we visit... and that grill cloth is about from the 1400`s. I looked at it and went "Thanks" Well turns out it looks cool with the black vinyl. He`ll be glad to see that I used it :D |
I love the old school grille cloth
Nice work on the kicks. What components are you using? |

I love old school grill cloth! It's cooler looking that today's plain old black cloth..and you can actually see the drivers through it too, which is a plus. Anyone know if you can still buy that stuff anywhere?
|
No kidding. I was thinking about that.
He said he bought it along time ago and just hung onto it. (this guy actually kept a news artical about pack ratts. it was dated 1985) |
Good work I'm not one for the old cloth but your craftsmanship on the kicks for your 1st time appears very good. Did you use a router or jigsaw for your speaker rings and such?
|
There are only a few mistakes on the vinyl.
The one was a really odd shape and couldn`t be covered properly. it kinga wrinled in spots. I used a band saw to make the rings and routed them with a 1/2" roundover. Things I would do differently. - Think about the finish (covering) before forming the shape. - Use THIN fleece to cover kps and build them up from the inside. |
yeah the kicks i built with my buddy had such a weird shape the shops here could even wrap the without a seam. It was kind of a pain so now we have to get them painted but meh its all in good fun

Yea. I shoulda never molded in the factory trim piece.
I got lucky and found some stretchy vinyl http://www3.sympatico.ca/chris.haig/kick03.jpg [ April 18, 2004, 11:09 AM: Message edited by: Seahag ] |
