The remote turn on terminal is loose on my old Punch 40, I had a look at it, any chance I could solder it back on with my Weller soldering iron, or do they pass too much heat through the board?

it should be fine as long as you don't heat it for to long
if your an amateur i would recommend a proper iron to much heat will cause the copper trace to seperate from the board if you heat it to when the solder flows then add some new solder with resin core flux it should create a good solder joint again most people either don't heat it enough or heat it to much |
so you would reconmend a soldering iron for first timers on the circuit board cause i got fix an amp for my firend and the last thing i want to do is fry it. Mind you the amp was free but i dont want to be the reason it doesnt work. The remote and ground have come off the circuit board partially.

Thanks Pinhead, this is the one I have at home: http://www.chiefaircraft.com/Aircraf...LER_8200PK.jpg
We have a better iron type at work, the kind that is on all the time when plugged in. I might give it a shot. |
i would suggest a iron opposed to a gun but a gun will work if your good enough

the iron will make it alot easier, but the gun will work.. as long as you're careful.

I use a gun but I have been soldering for 20 years and I'm nuts...
Get a cheap iron for $15 and it will save yer butt on circuit boards. |

I use a gun for boards, wires, RCAs, you name it. I'm too cheap to buy a good soldering station so I adapt
