Hey all,
The foam surround on my 12w6 has come off a little, is there anything I can do to fix this? Someone I know at an audio store told me that no glue availible in Canada would do the job. plz help :( Thanks, Peter |
i suggest that if it's a tiny little bit, then to glue it with some silicone. this will let you use it a bit more. it's true that the glue used is very specialized, and hard to come by. but not impossoble. i have a freind that works at a speaker repair shop and he mixes his own glue because he can't find any reliable mixtures. so he has his"ancient chinese secret" so to speak. good luck

I use contact cement to glue the surrounds when refoaming home audio speakers. Works like a charm!

Contact cement will work like a champ... also any glue that contains methyl-ethyl-ketone... or any other glue with a strong non-polar solvent like toluene... ect. ect..

Thanks for the help. :D

I have heard that nailpolish remover will "melt" the surround a little. I know people can use it to fix speakers but doing it wrong will most likely mutilate your speakers.
If anything, maybe go to a wrecking yard and scoops some factory speakers and practice on them. |
u could even try out ShoeGlue
