Focal advice
Hi,just bought some 165 K2P's to replace my 165 vrs slims.I have been powering the Focals with a Alpine MRP-F550 -250 watts bridged at 4 ohms. I have been told this is an entry level amp. and not up to the task of powering the K2P'S.Have Eclipse 7200 and Focal 27 KX as HU and sub. Opinions or suggestions if the amp.isn't up to the task.I'm NOT looking for loud-just very high quality SQ.Thanks.

The Alpine amp sounds like it would be up to the task, but if you want more power the K2Ps will appreciate the headroom. I would definately stick with a class AB amplifier for the components.
A higher powered 2 channel and dedicated mono amplifier would be a nice upgrade.
Focal has a few amps that would also work for your application. www.focal-america.com

you're giving them 250 rms per side...how much more do you think the Focals need to sound "better"? Honestly, you won't get better SQ with any other amp, this goes back to the same old amp debate as always(all amps sound the same ala Richard Clark). If you want a different sound, you're better off getting an eq, as any other amp that sounds different will just be "eq'ing" the signal in some way. Better SQ is more a function of installation (positioning) and tuning than amplifier brand or model.

-Midrange was full and detailed compared to spaced out and unfocused
-Treble was smooth compared to grity and harsh
-Sub bass is dynamic and accurate compared too boomy and lacking
