Sorry to burst your bubble....they've been around for a long time and a couple of years ago they were used quite successfully in A-pillar installs on the sound off circuit...it's kinda hard to put them anywhere else and make em sound decent... Very nice tweet!

And those are the cheap models - try and find a price on the Beryllium units.

There is a local car apparently with a set of the Be tweets. $4k is what I heard he paid for the pair.
|
i listened to 2 cars with the beryliums(sp) at the finals last week, one car sounded amazing and the other one was mediocre, but neither sounded as good as the vehicle with the scanspeak revelator mids and tweets, this vehicle was monumentally better and they are half the price

Guys, those Focal Be tweeters aren't car versions. Basically to get a set of those, you have to butcher a set of home speakers. For the non-focus ring Be tweeters, you would need to rape a set of Focal Electra 907 Be cabinets.(about 4K cdn) For the focus ring Be tweeters, you need to strip a set of Micro Utopia Be cabinets.(about 8k cdn)
Lets just say it's impossible to get the drivers by themselves...I've tried. (I even have the raw driver part #s) Adam |
Oh and there are a pair of TLRs for sale right now for $500 US on Ebay. So you see...it only require an arm. (you get to keep your leg)

Nick Wingate had a set of the Be's in his IASCA Expert Beetle before he sold it and the owner parted it out. Not sure if he ever did sell the Be's. http://www3.telus.net/public/bkdance...%20Wingate.jpg
