I searched for topics about the winter and its effects it has on amplifiers. Every topic I read said it is totally fine to run your amp/subs during the winter (except the rubber surround may crack in very cold conditions).

But, I just installed a brand new amp in my blazer and i checked it today and there was frost covering the top of it. Isn't this bad for the amp? Should i take out my system if there is frost covering my amp?

the colder you can keep an amp, the more eficiant it will run, distortion is one of the many biproducts of heat. So yes let it buck!!!

there was frost covering your amp?! i would be real curious if it was like that on the inside of the amp casing as well. if that was the case, then yes that is a bad thing! no one wants to get electronics wet. that is just a given.

I was thinking that too. But if frost gets INSIDE that will ruin the amp for sure am i right?

yes frost inside may damage a amp, however theres no frost on the inside, it's only on the outside.My amp has frost on it every winter most of the time in the morning.A cooler running amp is a better running amp.Don't worry about it, its a little condensation, and it won't get on the inside.

Holy crap... I've never seen frost like that on any of my amps...

Mind you, they're all mounted in the main cabin, my van has no trunk.

So I assume your trunk is trapping moisture in it... Couldn't a guy get some of that silica gel stuff and put some in the trunk to absorb the moisture?
