Power Acoustik BASS-12C
After hooking up my BASS-12C, and then firing it up, I'm hearing this awful hum from my subs. This was never there before and I assumed it was the BASS-12C. Don't get me wrong, it works excellent but the humming is intolerable.
I disconnected that cord leading to the control **** and 'kazaaaam' the humming stopped. This cord introduces so much noise! Any ideas short of tossing the entire Bass expander will be welcomed.....

Disconnect it, uninstall the cord leading to the remote **** so you can try various paths between the base unit and remote **** with the car running. Once you find a path that works without hum, re-install the cord that way.
Try to run it away from power wires. If you have to cross them, do it at a 90* angle.
Short of that, I don't think it's much good without the remote **** so...

IMO, yes it is a B-brand at best. My opinion only of course.
belt all you like I don't use uber amps. In fact I did one time buy what was considered cream of the crop amps and I hated them. They were weak and noisy.
My point was more that people continuously ask if XYZ brand is as good as ABC brand when ABC is considerably more expensive. Now, more expensive does not guarantee better quality but I certainly expect that the mainstream brands avoid issues like this and other common ones like gross channel gain mismatches, excessive crosstalk, crossover / gain pot markings that are meaningless, etc.
