Getting a 2003 Saturn Vue on Monday should I try to install the deck myself?

we are getting another car a 2003 Saturn Vue on Monday or Tuesday should I try to install the deck myself or pay futureshop to do it? I Installed it myself on my 97 Dodge Caravan but not the best.

Does anyone know if I would or might have any troubles installing it?

Scottie 08-21-2009 04:43 PM

Also would any of yous know how much Futureshop would charge me total after harness and ant plug and cage and install?

t money 08-21-2009 08:45 PM

yes, if you can get the factory radio out, it should be easy from there. Just make sure you buy the right wire harness and dash kit

Just get a Metra dash kit, follow the instructions included with the kit.
Don't get a wire harness, you wond need one, you'll see why when you get the radio out.
Also, you won't need an antenna adapter.

FutureShop will charge you in around $100-250 (parts and labour) depending on the deck your putting in.

If you can read instructions, you shouldn't have any problems.

You'll see when you get the stock deck out.
The deck you're putting in doesnt matter.

You could use any kit you get your hands on, I just like the instructions in the metra kits.

There is no need to buy an antenna adapter

danyman 08-22-2009 12:10 PM

call them up they might be able to make you a price. but if i remember right a 2ch amp is around 69$ and a 4ch is 89 i think. even the web site has the prices in the connect pro section

Scottie 08-22-2009 12:22 PM

Is there still wires I still have to attach like a harness? I don't see how the plug works I found this page that say disconnect the stock and put in a aftermerket radio and plug it in.

Is it really that easy just a plug that plugs into me sony deck, I thought all radios had diffeent plugs?

Thanks alot !!

danyman 08-22-2009 05:25 PM

your deck come with a harness and every color means something. now buying an aftermarket harness FOR THE CAR lol will allow you to connect your deck to the car. all you have to do is put red to red black to black yellow to yellow. green to green. ect....

when both harness are all connected to each other.. the after market end will just plug into the old plug that is behind the stock deck

ok thanks thats what I ment I thought you said I would not need an aftermarket harness.

stephenfleming 08-22-2009 07:30 PM

you dont need an aftermarket harness.
all the newer saturns use the same deck, and they have a wire adapter already there.
save your $20 and use the one thats already in the car.

danyman 08-22-2009 09:24 PM

nope ...

rinto 08-22-2009 10:24 PM

no you should never

stephenfleming 08-23-2009 12:27 PM

There is a harness that goes from the gm stock wiring into the saturn deck.
All you need to do is cut it in half and use it as a wire harness, or just tap in it to.

http://www.extremeaudiooutlet.com/ca...20back%20l.JPG

The factory harness plugs into the grey plug, which is attached to the white plug into the deck.
And you dont need to guess the colours, just match them up. The only one that's different is the right rear negative, its violet with a white stripe, not black.
