Getttin new stuff this summer :D

The new setup will be:

-Clarion ProAudio DPX1800 Subwoofer Mono Amp ClassG
-Kicker Comp VR DCVR122 Enclosed Subwoofer
-Pioneer DEH-P4900IB MP3 Player (wiring, indash receiver adapter, everything included)

Should I buy a kicker prebuilt enclosure with sub or buy sub apart then buy other box instead? And Im sellin my old stuff, after all it will cost me around 730$ CAD for all of these, does the price sounds resonable? If the enclosure is kinda small im goin to polyfill it later.

How much are you paying for the 4900ib? Just getting it at Futureshop?

About polyfill, I have experimented with it, and I didn't notice a difference, just a waste of money IMO. Make your own ported box, tune it to a nice frequency, and build it to the specs of that sub. A properly built custom box will sound a LOT nicer than any store bought box.

custom built i think is better...you can get it tuned to whatever frequency might sound best too..

^^ and that plays well in your car specificly and well with the type of music you like.

Of course a custom built box built to spec and tuned will sound better than any prebuilt box, a sub sounds only as good as the box it is in.

And if you want to go hardcore, you could find out the resonant frequency of your cabin and you could build the box to that spec too.

the 4900ib right now is 179$, yeah i know about tuning frequency, i built my first box, just dont like it, i guess if i have time or more tool id build another one... Im now just gettin a
Q-Logic - Q-Enclosures Subwoofer Boxes - STEP 3

kickers manual recommands a 1.75cuft to 2.25cuft, that q-logic box is 1.75cuft so Its goin to make sens to the woofer. Yeah I have polyfill for free, id give it a try anyway :smilie_da

I've never seen the 4900ib in action, but the 6900ub is nice, USB is quite handy, but I have the ipod adapter which rocks, but going with a 4gb usb flash drive is a lot cheaper. Polyfill is worth a shot if you can get it for free (old pillows), but I didn't notice any difference when I had my 2 10" infinity kappa perfects.

But I still highly recommend building another box, sounds so much better. I know, I had a Bassworx box from futureshop, returned it and built my own box, made a large difference in both SPL and SQ. Worth the time, and was much cheaper (but the carpeting job is pretty bad :( if I build another one, i'll carpet it properly, or try a different material)
