Where are you buying these from? Please don't say from these two sites.:(

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/dealer_locator/locator.php?form=locator_search&addressline=N3S4S4 &location=Canada <<< Link to Alpine retailers.

Click that link. But in your postal code, and select within 40 Miles, are whatever distance you'd be willing to travel in order to purchase this equipment.

Write a generic email stating that you're looking to buy that M1000 amp/TypeX combo, ask them what their best price is (include install/hardware if you're going to have them do it) Copy and paste that email over and over, sending one to each of the retailers.

When I type in Toronto, and select within 40 miles, it says there's 48 authorized retailers in that area. I'm sure you will get responses from a few with reasonable prices.

Don't expect to be able to buy this items from OnlineCarStereo for cheap. That low price is eradicated with the exchange rate, shipping, duties and taxes.

Take some time to shop around. You'll thank yourself later if you do.

I'd worry about duties, they're not going to let that come in for free ... no way.
I've seen that "OnlineCarStereo" website before, though I've never actually made any purchases there ...

I'd like to hear from those that have before I'd drop all that cash and then have to worry.

TragicMagic 01-15-2009 08:13 PM

I think if you send OnlineCarStereo Customer service an email, they'll have a better idea of what the final cost would be. Do that first. If its still less than what you'd pay for it locally, then by all means. We just don't want you to get a nasty surprise.

Yeah, these retailers in the GTA is charging a $200-$300 more.
Who'd install my setup in the GTA for a decent price anyway?

tonez735 01-16-2009 10:31 AM

well... maybe you'd get a break on the install if you bought the gear from the same shop...

audiocustoms85 01-16-2009 10:36 AM

I have purchased from onlinecarstrereo before and the service is horrible. Nothing beats having a shop to take care of you if you have any problems or just a simple question. Spend the extra cash and support your local shop! Its worth it in the long run.

So save a little, have no warranty, have issues, there go the savings after importing it..... I have some amazing deals right now. If this interests you add me to msn and we can talk.

alpine canada was nice enough to screw all it retailers and change their "there is and never ever will be authorized online alpine retailers" and open up the biggest one in the world, www. crutchfield.ca......so in canada you can buy with confidence knowing that your can purchase alpine online and still have all the warranty that alpine offers...........happy online shopping
