good amp for these subs?
 

I got two 10' Alpine type R 2ohm DVC and looking to buy a JBL GTO1201.1 amp to power them. Wondering what all your thoughts are on this combo?

Do you mean that they are dual 2 ohm (aka 4 ohm speakers), or do you mean they are dual 4 ohm (aka 2 ohm speakers)?

In the first case you could run them in parallel and get 557 watts to each sub (would be great), but in the second case you shouldn't run them parallel since that amp isn't 1 ohm stable. You could wire them in series to present a 4 ohm load and get 393 watts per sub (not quite as great but they will still make music).

Good choice. According to the amp specs, the amp will run best at 2 ohm (1114 watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms). The subs can be wired in series and then paralleled together to get 2 ohm final impedance.

With one less thing to worry, now all you need to be concerned with is yo' bawx.

You are right if you're talking about 4 ohm speakers...you will get final impedances of 1, 4, or 16 ohm. But he has 2 ohm DVC's which equal either .5, 2, or 8 ohm in pairs.

go back and read the first post. He said 2 ohm DVC. That makes 4 ohm when you series each speaker, them paralel them together to get back to 2 ohm total.
Just like they were made to do that. :smilie_da
