got my 12" kicker cvr!!

hey guys, i`m working on buying my second system and just bought a 12" kicker 07cvr122.

its a DVC 2 ohm.

my only problem is i dont understand how to hook all that stuff up haha. i had some old pioneer free airs before and it was just + to + and - to -.

can i wire this sub differently to get 4 ohm or 2 ohm or how do i go abouts looking for an amp?im totally lost!please help!!(ive read definitions of ohms and impediance etc but still, nothing....please help

what amp?
and what ohms can it do ?

zildjian_4 01-20-2008 09:19 PM

i havent found an amp, thats where i`m confused, i dont know what to look for.
i know my sub is 400 rms, so i should find an amp thats around there.
but they all have different ratings for different ohms:dunno:

can someone explain ohms to me simple?

well your sub is a dual 2Ohm, so you can either wire it to 1Ohm (series) or 4Ohm (parallel) so you'll want an amp that has about 600 watts RMS @ 4Ohm, or one thats 1Ohm stable (no sense really)

thanks, i dont understand that series or parrallel thing though aha.

i will keep my eye open for a 4 ohm amp

i also dont understand why i should get 600 rms for a 400 watt sub?

I like a little headroom, 400 rms will be fine

I have a Premier PRS-x320 that does about 450RMS at 4Ohm, new for 175 if you want to make the drive.

ok thanks MTT.

ill find an audio glossary site and look up series and parralel.
talk to you l8er!
