Well I got a f*cking ticket tonight by Eglington and Hwy 10 in Mississauga. I had just finished setting up the system in the ride, with the new components, so I was bumping it a bit to hear my hard work. Anyhow as I was coming to a stop at the stop light, I noticed the po-po stopped at the light to take a left turn onto eglington, and so I turned it down immediately.. As soon as the light turned green they basically got behind me and pulled me over. Anyhow, they stopped me telling me that my system was shaking their car. They were gonna charge me for not having my license on me as well as my ownership papers, having illegal bulbs infront, having dark tint, etc. They looked into the trunk and were impressed though...we started to shoot the sh!t about systems and stuff like that. They let me go with a 115 dollar noise pollution ticket. I am gonna plead guilty with a reason

I would frame that SOB and take it to every comp I go to

haha! you guys are jokers. The Alpine problem hasn't really arised lately, so I have not bothered with it. But I am almost sure its a loose connection somewhere (hopefully the car wont burn to the ground anytime soon). I also am going to definitely fuse it soon near the battery as the existing fuse is too far away.

You can't get a speeding ticket without a radar gun, so you should'nt get a ticket without a RTA, because how loud is a noise pollution vialation anyways. I have followed loud cars down the highway to never hear a beat, yet last night on my way home there were 3 Harleys about 12 car lengths ahead of me and we were doing about 110 and I could hear them as clear as day, when was the last time you heard of a Harley owner getting a noise pollution ticket.

Derek Jerome 07-28-2003 04:56 AM

happens all the time in northern MB(the harley ticket thing)........most guys just pay the ticket and keep the loud pipes .......view it as a toll for having loud pipes

gurl_with_boom 07-28-2003 06:51 AM

That's strange, I got pulled over on Saturday around Derry and 10. They just wanted to hear what song I was playing . I asked them if it was illegal to play it loud they said only if someone complains like neighbors and stuff. So I would definitely try to fight it in court.

ShYYLO 07-28-2003 07:13 AM

What kind of bulbs did ya have on your car to get a ticket?

SHY

Rye 07-28-2003 09:51 AM

i'd fight it..
maybe xcopper can help you out.
and i'm pretty sure they can only talk about the charges and not what they let you get away with.

ShYYLO 07-28-2003 10:13 AM

What does it say on the ticket "noise pollution" or "disturbing the peace" ???

There is no truth to that statement whatsoever.

A radar gun is there to re-verify the observations of the police officer. Its just another tool they have to use to issue speeding tickets. It certainly ups the conviction rate, but it is not required.

</font>
The fact is that he is a cop, you are not. His word holds up a hell of a lot better in court then yours. It's his word against yours. If he had a radar gun it just makes the process easier.

How dark is your front tint? Do they not really care about that where your from?

SwantonRX-7 07-28-2003 07:31 PM

wow man you got off light....you are god when it comes to getting out of tickets with cops

Hardwrkr 07-28-2003 08:05 PM

They could have made it a lot worse for you than they did. Your system was loud and likely disturbing someone along the way, especially if it was after 9pm. You didn't have your license or ownership on you, and it is the officer's discretion to say whether the tint is too dark if they cannot clearly see you in the vehicle. Count yourself lucky and pay the ticket. Fighting the ticket will cost more taxpayer money and cause one more officer to be in court instead of on the road where they should be.

I had regular Eurolite Superwhites on my headlamps of legal wattage and same with my stock side markers. My flashers were still amber.

It actually says 'unnecessary noise' on the ticket

</font>
From what I have heard from people around here, they ususally do not care about the tint unless they are trying to be total pricks. I was smart enough to be nice such that they would let me go on the rest. BTW my tint is %20 all around.

Ettore Casagrande Jr. 07-29-2003 06:07 AM

Hehe, it would be sweet to argue that the noise was "necessary".

You could never do it because cops are pricks in general (my opinion, as is what a forum is for) but still ...

Cops are "homos"??? WTF is that? The same cops that keep you and your family safe? There are many bad cops out there but there are many bad everything out there...doctors, lawyers, teachers...and I think we can do without the slurs on homosexuals...

I just wanted to comment on the speeding thing...I was paced by an UC cop and was given a ticket...you actually have a better chance of fighting the ticket if you were lasered because you can ask to see the calibraiton reports and stuff for the radar for that day...The cop never showed up to court so my ticket was dropped..but I just wanted to say that a cop can give you a ticket without a radar..

Fuzz 07-29-2003 07:14 AM

XCopper No non no no no...

Don't waste your money on them to fight a ticket like that.

If any of your travel to the US, be very very very careful. The law down there is noise violation, is 50ft of the Vehicle.

They actually have it specific called: "Loud Sound System Violation"

Hardwrkr 07-29-2003 07:14 PM

ettore, keep your ignorant, thoughtless remarks to yourself. If you have a personal beef with the police fine, but there is no need for name calling the people who are serving the communities requests.

I always fight... it give you time to save up the cash to pay it.

Remember the ticket must be 100% accurate or it is thrown out.

A lot of the mistakes happen when they write down the Vehicle Information. Here in Ontario, they have to write down the Make, Plate, and the STICKER YEAR. 90% of the time, the Sticker Year is wrong. Once before they put a S instead of a 5 for my license number and I got off for it.

Look for any information you can use. Sometimes it is as simple as the road you were on is titled "Street" and they wrote "Avenue"
It is enough to get you off.

A tip, if you in a high traffic area, try and stop a little bit further up and pull out of the way of traffic. I once got off of a ticket because where the officer wrote the ticket (It was in a strip mall about 100 feet away from where I was tagged), he wrote the nearest intersection as the location of the ticket, which was the next light, where the zone was 70, not 50.

Yeah I figured that I do not want it on my record or anything, so I am just gonna fight it.

There you have it folks.. the master of conning the law. (Dunno if all that's true tho ;) )

Orion_95 08-02-2003 04:10 PM

none of that is true. I have a good buddy that is a cop, and they can get away with screwing up bad on a ticket. last week he had to go to court for a lady fighting a speeding ticket, where she was driving a car, and he accidently wrote p/u unstead of car. The lady mentioned it, and casey just got up and said "sorry your honor, i was tired, but i distinctly remember it was a car" and the judge said it didnt matter. the lady paid full price. Cops make mistakes, they arent gonna let you off on a small fact like that.

ShYYLO 08-02-2003 06:22 PM

A traffic lawyer told me once that if the drivers copy of the ticket is not signed with ink, then the ticket is not valid.

Ettore Casagrande Jr. 08-02-2003 07:22 PM

Never once has a cop kept my family safe.

Here is the list of things that cops have done for me:
- Given me tickets for going under the speed limit
- Pulled me over because I "look suspicious"
- Taken me in for questioning regarding an incident that occurred when I was on the other side of the planet
- Harassed me countless times on my bicycle for "looking suspicious"

What have they NOT done:
- Stopped a theif in my neighbourhood that steals something about once every two weeks and we all know who it is
- Stopped my sister's neighbor from drinking like a tool then firing off shotguns into the air.

I am sorry, cops are great in theory but horrible in practice. I would say about half of them are good, and half are bad (from my experiences with them). Only problem, the ones that are behind desks are the good ones, and the leftovers are tooling around in their cars hangin at Timmy Ho's.

Maybe cops on your side of Canada are nice, but in Windsor they're dinks.

Oh, and errors on tickets can hold up if you have a lawyer; otherwise they can tell you anything and you will believe them. My sisters ex is a lawyer, pulled out into traffic from a parking lot and got tooled. Went to court because the officer wrote the law he was breaking wrong (like, he wrote "160.12, pulling from a driveway" insead of "160.15, pulling from a parking lot").
