Have any store suggestions for ordering from?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only places around my area for goods is Best Buy and the sister store Future Shop. From reading all the posts on suggestions it looks like I should stay away from them.

Anyone know of any Canadian stores that ship within Canada? Or for that matter anyone ordered any items from the U.S.? I have come across some good sites with fantastic prices, but wonder how much people got dinged with the "extras".

Simply looking to pick up some 6/9 and 6.5.

Any suggestions?

Cheers!

Saying nothing more.

I am a authorized Canadian dealer and site vendor for the lines listed in my sig. If you see something for a brand name that interests you, send me a PM for more info. Purchasing out of the US while it can save you money, is always a gamble. No warranty to start, hidden shipping charges, taxes, CDN - US $ conversion, import duties, customs clearing charges are all part and parcel of purchasing out of the US.

I would have to agree with ^ MR2NR. US purchases are always a gamble .

personally, i would not say that purchasing from the US is a gamble.......

i would say expect to pay more than you expected. when i ordered my 10" midbass, the speaker itself was $100 and change, but by the time it got to my house, i ended up paying around $150. just from crossing the border i had to pay 50% more. i know this will not be the case everytime (i am fairly sure the percentage is much lower than that but cannot recall exactly) but i have ordered from the US too many times and paid too much for it to come across the border.

I think the gamble part is if you need warranty or return issues. I have met a few people that made out ok and few that have not.

i have always been fine in that regard, but it's always a surprise when UPS or Fedex shows up at your door asking for COD for duty/brokerage charges that are through the roof.

I've had good luck and good service from both onlinecarstereo.com and hookedontronics.com
I came out ahead after shipping, brokerage & tax. But the main reason i shop online is avalibility. I haven't had to return anything yet, but both places uphold manufacturs warranty, you have to ship it to them, they ship you a new one.
There was a post on here a while ago that listed canadian online suppliers, but i can't find it.

I bought stuff from tigerdirect.ca, paid tax and shipping. Then i found out they have a retail store just up the street from where i work, i could have bought of the shelf. Doh!

While i was typing this, onlinecarstero.com phoned to tell me the MA Audio 629 components are on back order, would i like something else? I'll have to look up and see what else is comparable.

warranty? depends on where you buy from... CarDomain offers full manufacturer warranties on a lot of products, and so does WoofersEtc for CDT, Brax and Helix products (I made sure that was true before buying from them)... but you're right, most of the US online stores won't offer you a nice authorized warranty/service like local shops do.

^ It's mostly just the PITA of having to ship it back down, pay brokerage again on the way down and then pay brokerage again when it comes back up.

There are decent Canadian online options if a person does not want to deal with a storefront. I say look at them.
