Have a problem, don't really know what it is
Hey all,
Well my current system is a Panasonic hu with infinity speakers all around running off of a 400 watt Alpine v12 amp and a 12" Kicker L7 with a 800 watt mtx amp.
The amp was bought from a store as a store demo. I visted the store alot and saw they never really cranked it high so I got a good deal on it. It only came with a 90 day warranty and that is now gone.
Well I hooked it up in my car and I have always done my own install and everything was working fine. Then all of a sudden, the bass would start to cut in and out and then finally a few weeks after I install XM radio in my car it just turned off and never turned back on. So I went behind the deck and the remote power cable was disconnected. I reconnected it and it started to work for about 2 days then it started to cut in and out and finally it shut off. I went back behind the hu and checked the cable again and everything was fine. I resanded the ground and put it back and rechecked the battery terminal, took it off and put it back and it was fine. I started my car up and it worked fine for about 2 hours and then it has cut out.
This really sucks and is annoying. I need to find the source of the problem. My other amp works fine and never cuts in and out so I am thinking the amp is screwed. I checked all the fuses on the amp and they are fine, the fuse on the power cable close to the battery is old but it works find and is not blow.
Does anybody have any ideas on what it could be? I just have no clue. I am hoping I don't have to buy another amp. The amp was never higher then 1/4 for gain and the bass boost was never turned up at all so I don't think I blew the amp. I don't know.
Please help. Thanks

just a thought, Mark
hey all,
Thanks for your reply's. Taking somebodies advice I decided to double check everything. Well first I took the amp off and hooked it up to the wiring for the other amp and it worked fine so I was like WTF. Then I hooked it back up to where it was suppost to go and it didn't work. Then I looked at the distrobustion block to look at the fuses in there. The fuses looked fine but when I took the fuse out for the mtx amp, it was broken inside and I just couldn't see it because the gold covered it. So I got a new 40 amp fuse and put it in there and everything works again perfectly. It was driving me crazy thinking the amp was screwed.
So thanks for giving me the tip to relook at everything.
Yes I am using a $60 amp to power my sub. I think it's accually a $400-500 amp retail. I just got an amazing deal.
I am happy now so thanks again.
