head unit or amp?

Was hoping that someone could identify this problem , every now and then , my subs make their own note at a pretty high volume , when i first had this happen (after throttling them for roughly half hour) i yanked the rcas out of the amp but the bompity bomp continued and only after scrambling round to shut the power off to the head unit which in turn shuts off the amp did it stop.
after letting things cool down i turned everything back on and was fine for bout three weeks of use and then boom boom does it again sporatic beats on its own.
could this be the amp ? ss 6500
or a ground problem
was hoping to at least get pointed in the rite direction!
thanks in advance for any help !!

Hey glennersss,

You may have a problem with your amplifier that was potentially caused by a weird output load or a voltage issue.

Check the amplifier (system on) for proper voltage at the power terminals, power wire and fuse holder (both sides), battery and ground connections.

If everything checks ok, you may want to drop by your local install shop for a tech to have a look at the amp and woofer loads etc.

It's not that bad of a problem yet, should only be few quick fix ups.

Cheers
Rino
