head unit comparison

I am looking for opinions on the Kenwood KIV-700 and the Alpine cda-117. wich one is a better bang for the $$ ?? I like the Alpine but I can get the Kenwood for a better price right now. thanks

1 thing I know about the KIV-700 is that it doesn't have the bypass module for the ipod DAC, so you'll be running the ipod DAC instead of the HU's. Why not the KDC-X794?

Have you listened to either of them? Don't compare by spec sheets only. You'll also want to consider things like user interface differences; some are really hard to use while on the road.
