Question head unit help?

in the near future i will be in the market for a new deck. i`m currently using an alpine 9830 which i`m not happy with (dim display, eq complex to use) and need some recommendations?

my feature needs would be higher pre-out voltage, 3 pre-outs, and separate bass and treble controls, and there is no requirement for deck power.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am using a Kenwood eXcelon kdc 790 and it has all the features you listed. Seperate front, rear, sub crossover controls. 3 preouts. 5v preout voltage. Pretty cool lookin display. It is really easy to use. The sq is insane (imo). And it has a fair pricetag ($240 on woofers). BUT I have been having some problems with the cd playing. I asked around and heard that kenwood has smaller cd rollers than most companies and the cd will randomly stop playing and scratchyness will all the sudden come through the speakers but this problem is solved by taking the disk out and putting it back in. If you have an ipod this would prolly be no problem, just hook yer pod up to the av outs and this deck would be insane.

ooo yes. Eclipse/kenwood/alpine/pioneer are the only decks that I would by. Ok, maby only eclipse and alpine for my next hu. But eclipse has some nice choices although my friend owns one and the manual is like as thick as the bible. It scares me and I didn't even read it but I would assume that the crossovers and eq's are pretty technical on their decks

looks like a nice deck, but i`m not a kenwood fan (although i love their old school home power amps), for some reason i have a biast prejudice against that brand (never owned one, yeah i`m picky). i want to stay away from clarion as well. has an old "aduia" tape deck in the early 80`s and it was a piece of dreck. after that no clarion product has touched or ever will come near my vehicle. thanks for your input for the kenwood.

Other forums are more than likely full of the same BS this one is. No brand is immune to problems. Alpine had their shatty preout voltage issue a couple years back, Panasonic had the voltage regulator issues, Eclipse had a major skipping issue 8 years ago.

As far as current issues go, zero. As far as the theft deterrent and code goes. It is the best in the industry and renders the cd player 100% useless if it is stolen. I have a consigment 8volt here right now if you are interested. (I am assuming he wants to sell it as he upgraded to a AVN7000). It has just under 2 years warranty left on it. It was the top of the line unit from last year, the CD8455.
