I am new here and have a question regarding batteries. I am unsure of what battery to install in the back of my truck. I am debating a NAPA Legend standard under the hood car battery vs a Stinger battery. Been to two different audio shops and got two different answers. Anyone able to clearly advise why one battery is superior to the other? Under the hood, I am running a Duralast Gold and want to ensure that I don't start to have the dimming light issue. Any help is appreciated!!!

If the battery will be used for your car stereo , I would suggest either xs power , or oddysy , the napa is a good bang for the buck battery forsure , but depending on budget xs power is miles ahead of the rest

Luke99.....Thanks for the reply back! I read the New To Car Audio thread last night and went to the Basic Car Audio Electronics link. Based on the information I gathered there, it seems that a sealed battery is best for my setup due to the gases that a standard battery emits. However, I don't think I clearly understand the difference between a standard battery and a Deep Cycle, Gel Cell, and a Recombinant Gas Battery. For years, I have only known standard battery vs Optima Yellow or Red tops. The shop that is doing the install recommended the standard battery. The reason for that recommendation was that batteries such as the Stinger/Kinetic are useless after they are drained once. The shop that I bought my JL Audio equipment from recommended the Stinger. Their reason for the Stinger was space and the ability to recharge itself better than a standard battery after being drained. In review of the Stinger SPP925, it seems that these batteries are good for up to 400 drains. Am I wrong here?

In my previous setup, I had a Duralast Gold under the hood and that was it. I had a different setup at the time because I had a different vehicle. I had a Cadillac and now I have a Durango. My setup will now include:

7in flip out deck
XM brain
Navigation brain
2 sets of JL Audio C3-650
2 13W6's
8k HIDs
2 JL Audio XD 600s
1 MTX Thunder 7804
10in overhead monitor

With this setup, would the XS Power D925 or the Stinger SPP925 be sufficient enough?

I would say either of those batteries above would be good for your setup , if both are in your budget I would strongly suggest the xs power , if the battery has proper electrical and is maintained you should have no problem with maintaining the life of the battery , the higher end batterys will have a much greater life span , but it all comes down to how hard you push your stuff , ive been using xs power for years , I have a d2700 and to this day it stll sits at just under 14 volts and thats close to 5 years old , never had a issue with them and they out perform your average battery , their also a none spill able so you can mount them on their side without issues

if your in van city I would suggest going to soundsgood auto they used to carry xs power ask for mike , or keith

Luke99......Thanks for the information. I purchased the XS Power D925. Thank you for the shop recommendation as well but I am in Virginia, USA. I will post pics of my install once I am done. Thanks again for your help!!!
