Help with amp

Hello all, long time reader first time poster. Still new to car audio and have a question.

I currently have an Orion HP12D2 sub in a custom ported box and I am looking for an amp for it.

(http://www.orioncaraudio.com/Products/Products.aspx?ProductID=518) sub

For the setup I will be using 4 guage wires along with a line level adaptor since for the time being I will be using a stock deck.

This is a starter system so don't want to spend ridicoulous amounts on an amp (between 200-350) and have found 3 amps within that budget

an Orion HCCA-D1200 amp

A Kenwood KAC-8152d

or

an audiobahn A8000T

Which do you guys think will sound better or do you have any other recommendations within that price range?

As well what should I be looking for in an amp to fully support that sub? max rms at 2 ohm?

Thanks!

Audiobahn = out of business 2 years ago, the Kenmore is a old discontinued model and the Orion appears to be a current model. Are you shopping in the US market or in Canada? If Canada, I have a great amp for you in the Bassworx BA500.1D that delivers a minimum of 500w rms into 1 ohm. It appears your sub is a dual 2 ohm version, thus it is a 1 ohm or 4 ohm driver depending on how it is wired. The Bassworx has a 2 year replacement warranty on it and should land at your door for the price that you are hoping to come in at.

is there much of a sound difference between 1ohm or 4 ohm?

Nothing audible....the difference is simply matching the load to the amp....:smokin:

there is a sound difference between class A/B and class D amp, but it takes a really good setup matched with a good ear to find the difference. the BA amps(Bassworx) are solid, the shop I work at carries them and we haven't had any issues with them and we've sold quite a few.

The Orion amps (or any DEI prodducts as it seems) have been steadily dropping in terms of build quality, and quality of internal components for quite awhile now. The giant that was once orion has certainly fallen from grace.
