Help with assembling a new system

Hi all, well im obviously new to the site and need some help trying to put together a system, ok need a LOT of help/insight. I used to have a 12' mtx sub with a 1000w peak power acoustik amp in my old cavalier a few years ago, well now i have a 2005 chevy blazer and wanna go bigger. I listen to rap almost exclusively so im definitely about the SPL over SQ. I was thinking one 15 or more likely 2 12's. My budget is $2000~. Was thinking about buying a box/subs/amp used then replacing the factory deck, 4x6's, 6's and 6x9's brand new but am definitely open to changing that idea, just wanna stay close to that budget. Im open to anyone and everyones opinion as i dont know a whole lot about the specifics. Like if i get 2 12's will i need another battery? a capacitor? Details like that, also im borderline retarded when it comes to handywork so i wont be installing this myself. Gonna put some links up and wanna know yay or nay if they are any good or if i should just move on.

Again, i have no problem buying new as long as i stay in the budget. Also i would prefer an alpine head unit, i really like this one, let me know if you think it will work with the setup im trying to go for.

For my components i was wondering if i should go cheap and buy somethign like pioneer, or if it would be worth it to buy alpine type s's or something along that line. For what its worth im within driving distance of bestbuy and future shop. Ok ive typed far too much, really look forward to hearing some responses, either to tell me im an idiot or to help, whichever you choose :) Feel free to ask me any questions or details i may have left out, thanks in advance.

Only thing in those links I would even consider is the type r subs in the box. Head and shoulders above the MTX subs linked. If you're willing to spend $400 on a used amp why not get a new Sundown Audio 1500d for $475 shipped with full warranty from a site sponsor? Much better deal imho and would do well with the Alpine Type Rs as long as they are in good shape. Hopefully they are the dual 4 ohm versions so you can run the amp at 1 ohm.

I have that same Alpine head unit. It is great. I have an imprint kit with it, but I am much more SQ oriented than SPL. It is only an Ipod receiver, has no disk capabilities you realize, right? Just making sure.

As for components, there is a post in the classifieds about a really good deal on Energy components at FutureShop and they supposedly are pretty decent. Although with 2K I'm sure you can do much better.

Right on, thanks for the input. That amp is definitely a monster, will have to look into it for sure. Also i know that the deck is an ipod receiver only, im quite ok with that, any excuse to void cds from my life is fine by me :P Willing to listen to other peoples suggestions as well. Also i forgot to talk about an amp for my components, any suggestions? I dont think i wanna go too expensive on components/comp amp but i also know i want to be able to hear some of the lyrics, my friend has one 12 and shitty stock speakers and sometimes its hard to hear anythign but the bass.

Build the system a step at a time. You have no need for a 1500w rms mono amp. Never mind the $ you are going to have to throw at it in wiring and electrical upgrades. (see the step at a time comment). You have lots of options to consider. Build the system to be expandable. Get good front speakers and a amp to run them. Get a solid cd player with ipod capabilities. Eliminate the rear speakers for now, you can add them later if you must. Do it once and do it right. Bigger does not mean better. More does not mean better. It is all in how a system is designed to operate for you with the proper installation and choice of equipment. If you are interested in a system build, I have no problems tackling this for you and showing you the steps to take along the way.
