i came out of the bar last night and when i turned on the car the music wasnt playing... i thought the volume was just down so i turned it up... so anyways... i get it up to twice what i normally have it at (i normally have it at 20 which is pretty loud... but i had it turned up to 30-35)... and i get half the normal sound on top of that the sound gets all grainy...

and the front right speaker does not work now...

how i have it wired... is...

i have two APX201.2 (200w 2 channel)... the first one has each channel wired parallel... so the first goes to the front, second channel goes to the rear...

the second amp is wired to the sub (the ma thump which isnt too bad actually)... giving it 200w bridged at 4 ohm (where it can take 250 contin)...

the speakers, (excluding the front right speaker and tweeter) have sound coming from them... the sub has sound coming from it... the amps are both powered... and have the gain now set to max... but wont play as it was... any ideas?

i know exactly how to wire the amps... and nothing was amiss... and i do know how to do it properly as i have done it quite a few times...

any ideas?

Actually you don't have your amps wired properly. So I definately wouldn't rule out the installation yet.

Could be a lot of things, but considering nothing was changed, and now there is a problem could indicate some sort of hardware failure, or wiring failure. Since it seems that the entire system has been affected, my guess that it would be something in the pre-amp stage of your system. I would check all RCA connections. If they all look okay at the amps, you may want to check behind the deck. There could be some sort of short.

From what I understood from your wiring description, you are using a 2-channel amp to power both your front and rear speakers. Since this is essentially like doubling the load on each channel, your amp should be seeing a 2ohm load to each channel (1ohm stereo). This could very well be outside of that amp's capabilities. You should really only have one 4ohm speaker running to each channel of that amplifier. I would look into getting a four channel amplifier if you want to power both your front and rears. Another thing to keep in mind, is that you are not getting proper stereo sound. Sound intended for the left speaker is going to both front speakers, and sound indended for the left speaker, is playing only in the rear of the car. If you want to continue running in this configuration, you should probably look into an adapter to ensure your input signal into that amp is mono. Otherwise things may sound a little odd with some recordings.

Is the sub still playing at it's usual output, or is that affected as well?

Are your two amplifiers connected to seperate RCA cables to the deck, or is the second amp connected to the first one? (pass through design)

as long as his amp can take 2 ohm stereo, then 2 speakers wired parallel would be fine.. but you should have wired the front left, and rear left to the left chanel of the amp, and the front right, and rear right to the other. I would definitely check out the rca's, and i'd get an 1\8" miniplug to 2 RCA adapter, and plug that into your amps, and the other end into a portable cd player, or walkman.. see if you get sound. If you get sound, the problem is something connected before the amps. no sound, problem is the amps, or speakers.

This kind of sounds like a power issue to the amp, check the power supply to the amp (DMM)is the amp fused?

yeah it can handle 2 ohm stereo 4 ohm mono... im thinking it may be the deck... oh well back outside to look...
