Help me upgrade my not existing system. 0 - 100
I recently got the opportunity of buying an "out of shape" 1971 BMW 2002. Now I love this car but the previous owner apparently did not. :ohwell: Besides the interior being incredibly out of shape, the engine runs smoothly so I decided to buy it. The "existing" ( leaning out of the window I guess I could call it that ) system consist out of one broken speaker. => 0
And I need your help to get my sound system to 100. Now the doors have two existing speaker "holes" each. I am rebuilding and modeling new door interiors so the size of the speakers are open. Not yet defined. Since your car audio experience is hopefully superior to mine I am looking for help here. I am looking for a clear, loud system. I am willing to spend some money on it. I have 1000-1500$ in mind. Preferably less but if necessary I can spend more. The car has neither a headunit nor an amp. No wiring and no speakers. I am molding a fitting sub box for the trunk. Which sub(s) should I use. I read the "Incriminator Lethal Injection" are good subs. Should I be looking into one 15" or 2 x 12"s? -> clean loud sound. I want to feel it in the car. The component systems in the front: I dont know about these, I have looked into different brands; Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood and so on. I hope for you help here. Which amps should I use to power this system. I'm guessing a mono for the sub(s) and a 2/3/4 channel. ( I don't have much experience with amps ) Which wiring kit have you had good experience with? Since there isn't any wiring done I have to do it and preferably with good quality wires. HU wise I am looking for bluetooth with an AUX connection and preferably some media entertainment for the passenger. I am planning on driving this car on a daily basis so I do not want the need to turn off the sound system just because I " got sick " of it. As it gets to dampening. The required money for the dampening is not included in the money I am willing to spend on the system. I read that the best vibration and sound cancelling set up consists of 8 layers. Layer Zero: Endrust Sound Guard (Rubberised under-body protection) Layer One: Dynamat Extreme (Reduces resonance and creates mass) Layer Two: Thermal Insulation (Second thermal barrier) Layer Three: Closed Cell Acoustic Foam (Baffle and high range diffuser) Layer Four: Mass Loaded Vinyl (Full range mass absorber) Layer Five: Closed Cell Acoustic Foam (Baffle and remnant absorption) Layer Six: Thermal Insulation (Third thermal barrier) Layer Seven: High Density Acoustic Insulation Batting (Absorber) Layer Eight: Factory Carpet/fitments Is this overkill or the right way? Thanks for your help. I appreciate it! -Luis |
