help with my amp...

its the alpine mrd-m500... i donno, the whole digitized thing is kinda pissing me off... i cant seem to set it up properly. i just dont know what all the different settings mean!
im running one re sx12, dual .7 ohm sub, wired in series for 2 ohms. its not like im lacking on power. it makes alot of noise, but it never seems to do just what i want it to. always some distortion or something. does anyone use this amp/sub combo? any pointers would be nice, since im almost ready to go trade it in...

i looked up the specs on the amp: 250 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms.... and you say that they are .7ohm coils... so you are actually running the driver at 1.4 ohms.. the amp does not appear to be stable at 1 ohm so perhaps running the amp too low is giving you the distortion... i could be wrong, or you could be hurting your amp... take a multimeter and check to see for yourself what the coils read in series... you may have to find a better suited sub to match the amp

well, i did check it with a multimeter, it reads 2 ohms. that was measured with everything installed and in the box. the guys at the stereo shop where i bought the sub checked it out, told me its a dual .7 ohm sub. to my knowledge, re doesnt make dual 1 ohm subs anyhow...

but yeah, i have definitely thought of trying a different sub. i donno, we'll see what happens.
