Help With My Install
hey guys in new here. so hi.
i live in ontario and i have about 6-700$ to spend on 2 subs and an amp to push them. i alreayd bought a good headunit which is a pioneer deh-6800. sooo heres wat i picked out so far. My questions is if you guys think its good and any recommendations. please keep in mind my price range. I want 2 subs. so ive chossen 2 Pioneer 12" Subwoofer (TS-W306C) http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN as for the amp. ive narrrowed it down to 2. so you cans can help me with which one is better. MTX 1-Channel Car Amplifier (TC4001) http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0074471&catid= orrrrr Sony Monoblock Car Amplifier (XMD9001GTR) http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...65&catid=20103 I really wanna kno which of those two amps would be the better pick, cuz i hear mtx has thermal issues as in they run hot at high volumes where as the sony has thermal control. thanx in advance for any help guys. |
the mtx is only 400w rms so if u want to power those at full u will need the 8001
both amps say their max output not the rms |
i checked on sonys website
n heres the specs for the sony amp # 1300W Max Power # 550W x 1 RMS into 4 ohms # 900W x 1 RMS into 2 ohms, 20Hz-100Hz @ 0.6% THD # High Level Sensing Power On # Subsonic filter (15 Hz) # Variable 50 - 300 Hz low pass filter # 40 Hz EQ boost # MOSFET output stage & power supply # RCA & speaker level inputs # Line level thru-put # CEA-2006 Power Compliant so i guess its better then the mtx? which has 400 rms? |
I know someone else is going to say this and you may not want to hear it but........If you keep an eye on the "For Sale" section on this website, you could find an awesome 1 sub, 1 amp combo that would blow that system away. No offense, and yes it takes some patience but it is worth it in the end.

see i would do sumtin like that. but i dun wanna get used stuff.. used n electronics dont go well with me.. n on top of that i wont have any kind of warranty.

As Rmorris003 put it, you'll need the Sony amp to push those subs as the MTX doesn't put out enough power. Good luck.

Sony has been a wal-mart crap brand for quite awhile now , so i would suggest looking around to try and find a better amp.

Talk to any of the vendors on this site. You can get a nice mach5 sub or 2 for under $150, build a box yourself for $50-100, and get an amp from one of the guys for under $400. That's $600 with plenty of room for wiring, as well as all the warranty you could hope for. Use that noodle of yours for other things than dipping into the dirtiest side of the audio lake.

Ya instead of half ass powering 2 subs i would sink my the majority into a big amp and power 1 sub, blow away 2 subs

A amp with a 30amp fuse in it is just not going to make 900w rms of output. Nice of FS to totally mislead customers like that. My bet is that the manufacturer site does not have the same power claims on it.
Interested in some info dude, drop me a PM. |
