HELP! is my voice coil blown?

OK I bought this IDMAX sub and just installed it. However to my surprise there is no output, the sub will distort (cone makes nosies) when the volume is turned up. I tryed it with two amps and the same thing. Its a dual voice coil sub, and if the coils are messed is there any way to fix, or should I buy a new sub?

Thanks.

how do you have the sub wired? Did you do the wiring yourself, or did you buy it already in a box?

dual voice coil (2ohms each)

err....its wired in series (4ohms) - my bad

but ya i found out my voice coil is blown.

when I pushed the cone in by hand there was a “scraping” noise, felt as much as heard (voice coil is rubbing in the magnet gap), and now its stuck in place.

any suggestions on where to get this fixed?

did you just buy it? if so, did you buy it new or used? if new, see about getting warrenty. If not, it would probably be cheaper to just replace it rather then repairing it.
