Help needed, deck or amp?

Hey there,

I'm currently running an Alpine CDE-7859 head unit, powering 4 x JL Audio TR570-CXI speakers. The speakers are sitting in the stock locations in my 1989 Ford Thunderbird, which are in the front door panels and side panels in the backseat. I just bought the JL Audio TR570-CXI speakers this weekend and i replaced my Kenwood KFC-1660S with them. I thought the sound would improve substantially, but i'm barely noticing a difference in quality. The speakers distort at about the exact same volume. So now i know their is an issue with my deck, because obviously not even power are getting to my new speakers. I'm just wondering what would be better to do, get an amp with a high pass filter to block out some bass and give 70W x 4 @ 4 ohms power to my speakers, or should i just get a new deck that puts out 70watts X 4 MOSFET??

I agree, get a 4 channel amp with some power behind it.

alright so an amp it is, now when choosing which amp to get, if i get a 4 channel amp, wiring each speaker into their proper channel, i need it @ 4 ohms correct? seeing as how these speakers are four ohms?

Or could i get a two channel amp, front and back speakers and then get an amp which does 140W x 2 @ 2 Ohms???
