Help out a n00b

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying some speakers for my car. I'm not big on huge subs and pounding bass, doubt I could handle it. Anyways, I need 2 6x9 and 2 3x6 speakers for my car, as well as a cd player. Will I be able to crank some decent volume out of just a headunit with no amp? What speakers should I get in those 2 categories? Where can I buy them?

Those are the sizes that will fit into my 70 mustang with no modifications, do you guys recommend any other sizes to add? Thanks.

Well my car has 4x6 and 6x9 in it, and currently im using Pioneer speakers, the ones that come with 3 way. They are really good and clear, ill recommend them, check out futureshop they have them there, around 90. Not sure if thats what you wanted to hear, but thats my 2 cents. Anyways sorry I cant get the exact model right now, ill post again in a few mins.

ok well i know i'll get shot down, but here's my 2 cents.

good SQ can not be acheived via a deck... you need to have an amp for those to get some decent SQ from your system. even if just the frotns are amped you will notice a world of diffrence.

i am not 100% sure on your money situation so i'm not going to say any thing out ragously pricey. so i will just name out a couple brands that you may want to look at.

Pioneer, clarion, alpine, RF, and possibly infinity

these are just my personal pick's so please do not flame me for them.

any ways happy shopping and please don't be scared to ask more questions.

Tyler - you only get shot down when you say something dumb - not when you give good advice

I'll add the advice to be careful with the 4x6s: On many cars these speakers sit right tight against the dash or grille and many brands have tweeters that stick out past the face of the driver. Check the clearance on them and buy appropriately.

Would I be able to peice together a decent system including speakers, a deck, and an amp for around 6-700? If so would you recommend me look at any decks/amps in particular? Thanks.

I ran into a similar prob installing in an 88 town & country....rear deck - had to space the out of them to make them fit under the rear factory deck..did it but what a pain....should have went with him when he bought the speakers....live and learn
